We are seeking a skilled and motivated Auger Bore Operator to join our construction team. In this flexible role, you will be responsible for executing auger boring projects, ensuring they meet strict quality standards and project specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work throughout Northern California on challenging construction sites, and run a crew to perform highly specialized auger boring projects. The ideal candidate will be willing to work in the field throughout Northern California.
Responsibilities
- Operate trenchless auger boring machine safely and competently in order to install steel casings underground.
- Understand project requirements, including gradients, sewer, and water functionality.
- Direct labor assistance to help perform jack and bore successfully.
- Focus on maintaining speedy operations, and on correct and careful installation of steel casings, in accordance with project requirements.
- Have a focus on safety, of oneself and others.
- Represent the company on jobsites.
Requirements
- Previous experience with auger boring, jack and bore, or other trenchless methods is a must. Directional drilling experience alone is not useful.
- Have worked with auger boring/dry boring machines such as American Augers, Barbco, McLaughlin, Bohrtec, Vermeer (auger bores), etc.
- Have experience installing sewer and water lines using trenchless methods.
- Have a basic understanding of sewer/water projects including manholes, inverts, flow gradients, PVC/HDPE/ductile iron product pipes, allowable tolerances, etc.
- Basic math skills to determine proper heights of inverts etc during construction operations.
- Ability to lift 50-100 lbs and use basic power tools to perform construction work.
Bonus Attributes
- Capable welder and holder of current AWS D1.1 certification.
- Experience as a project foreman.
- Experience using a piloting system, such as the Akkerman or Bohrtec systems.
- Hydraulic/electrical technician experience, or general mechanic abilities.
- Member of Operating Engineers Local 3 or Local 12.
