Description JOB SUMMARY:

Operates powered heavy equipment to mow and maintain fairways, greens and tees of the golf courses; Operates machinery to spray and fertilize golf course turf; Also operates machinery to excavate land and transport material necessary to develop and maintain all facets of the golf course. Also performs all duties of lower rated job classifications as may be required.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Wheeled tractor with front end loader and back hoe attachments, dump truck, wheeled utility tractor, multi-mower, fairway mowing tractor, golf cart, light utility truck, etc. May also operate or use a power mower, power sprayer, verticutter, aerifier, topdresser, hoe, shovel, pick, triplex mower, greens mower, tee mower, apron mower, etc.

MATERIALS:

Gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants, sand, soil, chemicals, fertilizers, etc.

SOURCE AND NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

Supervised by the Director of Agronomy and Gold and Emerald Course Superintendents, who assigns work, issues special working instructions and monitor employees' performance.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

May direct work of assigned helpers.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Operates a wheeled tractor equipped with a front-end loader and backhoe to perform various earth- moving tasks.


  1. Operates a dump truck to transport soil, rocks, and trash to designated areas.


  1. Operates a mowing unit machine to mow fairways and roughs.


  1. Lifts and loads fertilizer into spreader and operates a utility tractor to flail mow rough and fertilize golf course; prepares and applies spray chemicals; tows power sprayer; operates 300-gallon sprayer.


  1. Services, adjusts and performs minimum repairs on assigned equipment; involves fueling and applying grease to grease nipples.


  1. Observes all Company house rules and regulations, including but not limited to safety regulations, following safe practices in the performance of assigned tasks and practicing good housekeeping in assigned work areas.


  1. Assumes responsibilities for personal licenses and attendance of educational classes, etc., which are required to operate assigned equipment.


  1. Performs other related duties and duties of lower rated jobs classifications as may be assigned or required.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Previous experience in golf course maintenance heavy equipment machinery.
  1. Knowledge and experience with golf course heavy equipment, such as wheeled tractors, fairway tractors, dump truck, back hoe, etc.
  1. Valid driver's license required.
  1. PUC Certification required.
  1. Valid CDL operator's license preferred.
  1. Good verbal and written communication skills required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Frequently requires sitting and riding, reaching, bending, handling, eye-hand-foot coordination, operation of a multi-mower and fairway mowing tractors on uneven terrain, exposure to heat and sunlight, chemicals and fertilizers, dust, dirt, golf balls in play, noise and other environmental conditions typically associated with working on golf courses.

Occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, kneeling, stooping, lifting/carrying/pulling/pushing of up to 75 lbs., operation of a golf cart, light utility vehicle, dump truck, wheeled utility tractor, wheeled utility tractor with front end loader and back hoe attachments, exposure to gases, wet and other environmental conditions associated with working on golf courses.

Visual capabilities required: good to excellent vision, depth perception, wide field of vision and color vision.

Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are considered essential job requirements of every job in this department and the Company to maintain daily operating efficiency and levels of production.

Job experiences approximately 8 hours outdoors and 0 hour indoors.
Salary26.15 Hour
